MUNICH, Germany, August, 3rd, 2007 - EDAptability
today announced the availability of its new
system-prototyping-emulator (SPE) hardware. The unique structure
results from the compiled experiences at various projects,
applications, customers and shortcomings of comparable system
prototyping hardware.
EDAptability gives the RACERS-guarantee on the
hardware. R: The best possible switch and/or fixed routing
concept, A: access to all FPGA IOs, Vrefs, ..., C: lowest system
prototyping costs per FPGA in the industry, E: FPGA-wise
extendable, R: successively replaceable by new FPGAs and S:
speed, the fastest System-Prototyping-Emulator hardware in the
industry.
It is the only one of its kind to support 1..10
Altera and/or Xilinx devices by keeping full system
compatibility. For each project, the user can select the mixture
of switch or fixed routing. All FPGA pins are directly accessible
(no switch) and all voltages can be driven alternatively from
outside. The unique clock structure leaves it to the project to
drive any of the 32 clocks per FPGA individually or by one of the
32 global clocks. The SPE is capable of providing 333 MHz DDR
based connectivity btw. each FPGA (e.g. 1200 IOs) due to its
patent pending structure. All IOs can be connected to an external
logic analyzer. The SPE has also an integrated logic analyzer for
sampling 96 signals, trigger functionality and on-board 2GB for
VCD file dump. The number of sampling pins become almost
unlimited if pin multiplexing is used.

EDAptability provides application specific
boards, which can be connected to the SPE and which serve special
functionality (USB, PCIe, ...). These application boards are made
on customer request and are free of charge (except material
costs) if can be used on other projects. EDAptability also
offers service to tightly couple customer logic on the FPGA
boards for high-end connectivity (DDR2, RocketIO, ...).
