overview software hardware service

The streamer and cable hardware has 3 major functions:

- streamer and configuration device for iBiS (FPGA/ASIC debugger),
- downloading of Altera or Xilinx configuration and
- user data can be downloaded to the FPGA or can be uploaded from the FPGA.

Each link can be established via

- USB,
- ethernet or
- RS232.

1) Streamer and configuration device for the intelligent Built in Streamer (iBiS):

The streaming function uses a 40 bit Mictor connector or the parallel interface which is usuallly used for the FPGA configuration. The device has an integrated 2GB DDR2 memory.

2) The configuration bitstreams can be downloaded for Altera or Xilinx devices. The following modes are supported:

Altera: PS, AS, FPP, PPA, JTAG
Xilinx: Serial, SelectMAP(8), JTAG

3) User data link:

The user can talk from a C++ program to the hardware. EDAptability offers free AMBA and OCP IPs, which can be implemented in the user design. The FPGA must be connected to the streamer. Free software functions can be included in any kind of C++ or SystemC program, so that a link btw. the software and the IPs can be established.

For further questions feel free to contact EDAptability. We are always glad to hear from you.
